A Contemplative Birthday and a Quick Cross Train

So August 8 was my B Day. I had a little trouble on Sunday from the heat and cut short my long run after feeling dizzy at mile 11 (It was in the mid 90s). But on my B Day, it was cross train day for me. I sprinted down the bike path through Lincoln Park to downtown. Awesome views. Most impressive were the flowers at the crewing pond, a.k.a., Lincoln Park Lagoon.

I've thought a lot about moving away. But I really don't want to. What I want to do is get a condo in San Clemente and "commute".

Chicago is an AWESOME place to live and work...but maybe not in the winter!

Total Mileage ?? Gotta add it up, but I did 24 this week so far. On Saturday I'll do 13 miles. I've lost 30 lbs.

Vacation Runs and Guestimation

We vacationed in California for one week. I had to try VERY hard to keep up my running regimen, but I did it. It was a "step-back" week. This means that distances are cut back every third week to give the body some recovery time. For instance, my longest run was 7 miles last week. But this week, my longest is 12.

I did my longest run last week along the San Onofre Bluffs. The road along the Bluffs is exactly three miles long, which means that after finishing the round trip, I had to double back and run one more mile.

My mileage counter on the rental car was not working, so I could not measure out running distances. I had to rely on expressway signs to determine that the distance between the I5 entrance and a street called Christianitos is 1.7 miles.
Anyway, not bad for a vacation, I ran 16 miles. But this week I am up to 24.
This AM I did 6 and felt really really good!
