Why are they dying up north in the heat ??

Running and exercise has been an absolute bitch to do outside around here of late.
Saturday I did my 10 mile run...with plenty of hydration. On Sunday AM I got up at 5:30 and did a quick bike sprint downtown, later on Sunday the heat index was up to 110F.
The absolute temp was 102F.

Unlike deserts, it is humid as hell here, And unlike in the south, people up here often do not have any AC. My parents in law...never had AC. They also do not open their windows and my father in law is on dialysis. He was found in his hot house in 98F, and his windows were not opened...he was collapsed on the floor.

We waited until my parents in law were out...and we installed a window unit for him...and they were not happy about it. It is this depression era mentailty that is killing old people around here...and why in similar conditions in 1995, 700+ people died from the heat.

Total to date: 112 miles, -28lbs.

Massive Heat annd Fatigue

It is WICKED hot outside this summer. Delaying a run until 9AM can be BRUTAL. We had a rain shower yesterday complete with thunder. This might have helped the trees a little, but is gave us 80% humidity. Combined with 92F temps, the run today was a bitch.
Mileage: 99 Miles since begin. Only three today, rest tomorrow and then 10 on Saturday.

Yes!! Progress!!

Well, since I started this marathon thing, I've lost 25 lbs. I started several months ago at 235, but "officially" started at 225 lbs. Now I am down to 210....and my first goal is 195, certainly attainable. After that, 178, my marathon 2002 weight.

Running is going well, too. Last Wednesday I missed my 4 miler. But I made up for it on Thursday by running 7 miles. Then on Saturday I ran 9 miles, the long ruun for the week. It was hot as hell, in the 90s, but I did it!

Next Saturday, 10 miles and 21 miles for this week plus 25 mile fast bike rides once per week. And strength training comes 2-3 x per week, and weights sessions are 1.25 hours per.

I will succeed!
