Death Wish, 1975

In 1986 my whole attitude about "justice" changed. It was 1986 and it was the third time I'd been mugged. I was robbed for $3 by three guys in the subway. But this time, I had my face and chest slashed. I was kicked so many times in the the ribs, we now belioeve that splinters entered my lungs. I required plastic surgery.
"Death Wish" became my favorite movie. I rented all of the movies multiple times and had fastasies of taking a machine gun down to the subway and blowing off the heads of all muggers.
Bernhard Goetz became a hero of mine.
It took two years before I rode the subway again.
Tonight I rented "Death Wish" again and I had some very bad and horrible memories of being slashed by crack addicts. I hope they burn in hell.

Springtime in Chicago...
There is probably little better....(now if only we had more and better surf here).
I had the twins all day, Thomas and Gail were on a photo shoot for Ford.
I started the day with a long run (Gawd the twins are getting heavy to push in the running stroller!).
It was in the 70s. I wore shorts for the first time this year (in Chicago).
Awesome.

Ravenswood eL Blunder

In a massive cavelier fashion, the CTA has announced that up to 18 stops on the Ravenswood (Brown Line) will be shuttered for up to one year while the agency spends billions to renovate and enlarge platforms.
Previously it had been promised that no stations would be closed. In the meantime, small businesses will go under, and the CTA is supposedly going to cut 40% of its service due to "overspending" and a state funding disagreement.

2005 Shamrock Shuffle 8K (5 mi)

I had a fun time this morning running the Shamrock Shuffle 8K in downtown Chicago. As usual, the city looked dazzling in brilliant sunshine. It was about 45F. There were rock bands, Irish bands etc. all along the course.
The eye condition makes it so brilliant light hurts me, but I managed to get some big sunglasses so I could do the run.
My time: terrible. I have a ways to go to get back to running <8 minute miles as I used to a few years ago. On the other hand, I ran with 24,000 other people, the starting was seven minutes before I reached the starting line!
